Men of War - May 2007
This animation was created as part of my 'Animation Simulation' module at University. We had to produce a short animation that would entertain an audience for a sustained period of time.
I based my animation on the work of Roy Lichtenstein, specifically focussing on his comic drawings. I had to re-draw all the material in vector form so it could be used in Flash with ease.
As I worked through the project I began to build my own comic style, which can be seen as the film progresses. I enjoyed making this animation and hope that those who view it, enjoy watching it.
Please Note: Most scenese require users to click the play button in the bottom right corner... I added this feature due to my understanding that viewers have different reading speeds, and wanted to ensure they captured each scene, before moving on to the next.

Moulin Rouge (Animated Poster) - May 2007
This animation was created for my portfolio in 'Animation and Simulation'. We were asked to take the well known Toulouse-Lautrec poster and animate it.
The first thing I had to do was re-draw the image in a vector form ready for animating in Flash.... I knew that I wanted to animate the heads in the background, so I made them seperate from the bodies.
To create the dancing girl, students in the class setup a studio, with a dancer behind a white screen. The dancer's shadow was projected onto the white screen, which we filmed as she danced.
We then changed the film to stills using a video editor, these still were then each edited in contrast level, before being converted to vector images, so that we could extract the shadow area.
